Favourite Five of 2010

Good morning everyone,

So what do you all have planned for this evening?  I'm not a mad keen New Year person so a I will be at home with Coco tonight.  I have Downton Abbey on DVD, a bottle of champagne and some chocolate!  I'm sorted!!

Debby is now doing her Favourite Five of 2010 so I thought I would join in the fun.

First up my small set of drawers.  I loved doing these and am pleased with how they turned out. They now sit proudly on my desk with special gems and ribbons in them!
Second is the box which matches the drawers.  I loved this paper from My Minds Eye.
This card is one of the my early ones on my blog.  I love this image and I love the black and white with a touch of red which lifts it so well.
The reason why I got into blogging was because of the fabulous Kerry at Ladybug Crafts and her fabulous stamps.  (PS her buy one get one half price offer ends tonight so dash over and take a look at these fabulous stamps). One of the first stamps I bought from her was Martini Nikki.  This was the card I made for Kerry's birthday.  I love these colours.

Another LCI stamp and Flowers for Nikki.  I like this because yellow isnt my fav colour but I was really pleased with how this came out and the first time I tried paper pleating.
I am just slipping in a sixth one because I love the Art Deco era and I think this card is just so simple but elegant.

I hope you enjoyed looking at my fav five (err six!).

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has been so encouraging since I started my blog in August and for those of you who have become a follower.  You are all wonderful!!

Finally can I wish you all a very Happy New Year, have a fun, safe time whatever you are doing.

We are very happy to be sponsored this week by Limited Runs Digi Images and they are offering a prize of 3 digi stamps.  Go and check out their fab images.

The DT were given some fun images to play with and here is my card using Present On Cupcake
This was a great image to work with, nice and easy to colour.  I kept the card simple, used Bo Bunny dotty paper, added some fluffy stuff to the cupcake with some glitter!  The ribbon across the middle is a pressie from a fabulous blog friend!  You will see more of this ribbon in future posts!

Please do go along and check out the other DT projects and join in the fun.

Favourite Christmas Cards of 2010

Hi Everyone,

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas.  I had a nice relaxing time and ate way too much!!  As I don't have any new cards to show at the moment I thought I would join in the fun over on Debby's blog and big my top 5 Christmas cards of this year.  Looking back on what I've done there weren't as many as I thought!!  Felt like 100s! Anyway here are the ones I like.

I can't pick a favourite!  Thanks Debby for a fun challenge!

Enjoy the rest of your evening.

Merry Christmas!!

Well we are almost there!  I've finished work now so am off until the 4 January, yippee!!  I can get lots of crafting done in that time!

I have done a card for the Ladybug Challenge which is "Song Title", so all of your cards have to be inspired by a song.  Here is the card.

NowI am not sure whether mine is completely meeting the challenge so the Ladybug's might disqualify me!!!  Shopping Nikki reminds me of that scene in Pretty Woman when Julia Roberts goes back to the shop that she was rejected from the day before and holds up her bags and tells the assistant who rejected her "big mistake!"  So my song title is Oh Pretty Woman by Rob Orbison!!

I finally got some Kraft CS!!  So used that for the base of my card.  I think the paper is DCWV.  Added ribbon and sparkle.  My glitter sploshed a bit when I used it so the bag looks a bit messy!  I've done the inside of the card again (Mary J will be proud of me!!)

I will be entering into the following challenges:
Well thats it from me.  Final thing to say is to have a very Merry Christmas!  I hope you can all relax after the build up and have a wonderful time whatever you are doing.  See you on the other side!

MAWTT Challenge - Anything Goes

Good morning everyone

Well its Thursday and its another challenge at Moving Along With The Times.  We are being sponsored this week by Stitchy Bear Stamps and the winner will receive $10 to spend in their store!  Have a look here to see their fabulous images. We were given some images to play with and because the challenge was for anything BUT Christmas I went for something COMPLETELY different!  I chose flip flops and here is the card.
When I saw her I knew I wanted to create a little scene for her on the beach and I got the background paper from a Crafters Companion CD which fitted the bill perfectly.  I coloured her with promarkers, cut her out and decoupaged her into the scene and added her bag and the kite.  Used some glitter here and there and some glossy accents.  A real simple card to do.

It just makes me wish I was heading off to a warm beach, somewhere exotic, for Christmas!

Please do pop along to check out the other fabulous projects by the DT and join in the fun.

Speak soon!

Are you ready yet?!

Hi All,

Well are you all ready yet?!  I was pretty organised this year so I can relax this week!  Its a great feeling knowing that I dont have to make any more Christmas cards!!

I've been stuggling to get going with the crafting again after a week or so off!  Just didnt have any ideas as to what to do.  However I did receive some Christmas cards this week from my lovely crafter friends which gave me some inspiration :-)

I bought some LOTV stamps a few months back and hadnt used them yet so I decided to ink them up and I made some little thank you cards which I can use after Christmas.

I thought the girl image was so cute and could be used for any occasion!  And my thinking behind the boy image was that the note on the log boat was a little thank you note!  I hope you like them, I have made a batch of them!  They were fun to colour in and put together.

I am entering into the following challenges:
Before I go I want to mention my lovely blog friend Lisa J who has blog candy for her 1 year blogaversary!  Congratulations Lisa!!  Go along and join in the fun.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday.

Relaxing Day

Hi Everyone

Just a quick post to say that I havent completely disappeared off the face of the earth!  Been SO BUSY lately.  Will be glad when this whole Christmas hoopla is over!!

I made this card a while ago, and its not Christmas!!  It is completely inspired by the fabulous Mary J (go and check out her blog she has some amazing projects) who did a very similar card on her blog a few months ago.  Thank you Mary for the inspiration!!

I've used some Rubber Romance stamps which I bought a few months ago, which I LOVE!

You won't see from the photo but I used glossy accents on the table and chair and her book. The background paper is some textured paper which is slightly shimmery.

I hope you like it.

PS - go and check out the Ladybug Crafts challenge blog, they are having a fabulous blog hop and all the DT have made some amazing projects!

I'll be back on Thursday for the new MAWTT challenge.

Take care.

A New Challenge at MAWTT

Good morning everyone.

I hope you are all well.  Nearly Christmas!!!  Can you believe how quickly the time is going.  Anyway, it is Thursday and we have a new challenge over at Moving Along With The Times.  Before I go into the new challenge I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who left comments on my blog and on the main MAWTT blog welcoming me and wishing me good luck.  I really appreciate it and you are all so lovely to do that.

This week the hostess with the mostess is Shell and its a special week as her 13 year old daughter is sponsoring this week!!  Check out Didge's Doodles on the Stitchy Bear Store to see her fabby images.

So the challenge this week is to use lots of spots!  I have used Didge's Christmas Party Bear and I have made a memory book.

It is a bit tricky to photograph but it is made out of one piece of 12 x 12 paper.  The idea is to put your photos onto all of the panels and it folds up into a card.  It does look lovely with all your own photos on and obviously this one will be a Christmas memory book.

I've had this spotty paper in my stash for ages and I am afraid I have no idea where it is from. I coloured the image with my promarkers and used glossy accents, some fluffy stuff on his hat and glitter all over the spots on the front of the card.

Go along to the MAWTT challenge blog and check out the other DT fabulous cards and join in the fun this week.

I am entering into Passion for Promarker Mega Christmas Challenge - Anything Goes.

Stay warm and safe.

Altered Drawers

Hey everyone

I hope you have all had a nice weekend.

I wanted to do something different today.  I bought a chest of drawers from Kaisercraft a little while ago which I have wanted to alter for a while.  So here they are.

The drawers are pretty simple to put together.  I painted them first with my favourite eco green painters in Sand.  I then put the pieces together and then decorated with My Minds Eye Papers.  I distressed all the edges with Olive chalk ink.  I made the flowers myself and glittered up.  I added adhesive pearls around the opening of the drawers and also added them at the top around the flower.  I quite like how they have turned out and they actually match the small gift box I made a month or so ago as I decorated with the same paper.

I hope you like them.

    For A Boy

    Good Afternoon

Well its a tad warmer today so the snow is starting to melt, very icy though.  I walked up to the shops and did a little bit of Christmas shopping, there were an awful lot of people around though so it wasnt very pleasant.  Am home now, with a headache :-(.  I am doing some more Christmas cards today, will be pleased when they are all done.

I had to do a boy birthday card, is this ok for a grown up boy??  I used my new LOTV boy stamp which I bought at the NEC and havent had a chance to use yet.

I didnt really know where i was going with this card, I hate not having an idea of where I am going with a card.  So I dont think this card looks particularly good.  I've distressed it slightly and used some twine.  I do however like the paper which is Bo Bunny Ocean Dot and the stamp is really great and lovely to colour in.

I feel like I've lost all my mojo at the moment.  My mind is just blank and what I do finish I dont think look that good.  I may do something completely different and alter a set of wooden drawers I bought the other day.

    Have a good Saturday everyone.

If the Shoe Fits, Buy It!!

    Hi All,

All this snow is making me feel quite Christmasy. It does look very pretty and I love how the snow makes everything so quiet!  I don't do much Christmas decorations as I am on my own but I am thinking of getting out a few bits and pieces!  God, there must be something wrong with me!

On to my card today.  The Spotted Chick has got a great sketch for her Thats Krafty Thursday challenge.  Luckily for me you don't need to use Kraft CS this week as she forgot to use it on her sample card!!  Great for me as I still don't have any Kraft CS, and i know what you are going to say, how on earth can you call yourself a crafter without it!  I am going to buy some!!

Anyway I have used a Bugaboo digi stamp, "If the shoe fits, buy it!"  Completely agree!!  I've used Bo Bunny Blush Dot, some shoe paper from my stash and some Bazzil.  Also used Epoxy Dots in purple from the fab Ladybug Crafts, I love them so much I hardly use them on my cards!

I am entering into The Spotted Chick That's Krafty Thursday.  Pop along and have a look, she does some fantastic work!

    Hi All!

An exciting day for me today, my first card as part of the Design Team at Moving Along With The Times!!  Yippee!  Thank you for having me ladies!!

Today's challenge is from the wonderful Lisa Jane and her theme is "A Card for Someone Special".  Our sponsor this week is the wonderful Whimsie Doodles, go along and check out their digi's.  I am using PJ Leah which, along with the other images the DT have used, are due to be released on 5 December. She is so cute with her stocking and her little cat looking out!

The card is for a friend's daughter.  I used some great papers from My Minds Eye, Dear Santa range.  Have decorated the inside as well and used my Martha Stewart edge punch.

I hope you like it!  Make sure you go along to the challenge blog and check out all the other DT's fabulous creations and join in the fun.

    Snow Has Arrived!

    Hi All!

Well it took some time for the snow to get here but it certainly has now!!  Made the mistake of going into work yesterday as the snow was only just starting.  NIGHTMARE getting home!  I have been travelling up to London for a number of years on the trains and I have to say yesterday was one of the worst journeys.  No trains, no buses, lots of walking!  I broke my wrist on the snow and ice the year before last so I am so paranoid about walking on the snow now so that made it all the more stressful for me!

I took some photos from my living room window this morning for you to see.  The snow does look lovely, as long as you dont have to go out in it!

I was going to take a photo of Coco but she was such a baby and didnt even want to put her toe out into the snow this morning.  I tried to encourage her out and she turned to me, meowed in disgust and rushed back in!

I made a couple of Christmas cards the other night for my mum and my aunt.  They both love House Mouse so I used the same stamp for both of them.  I used the pleating technique which I used for my card yesterday so I apologise if they are similar!!

I've decided I do not like colouring any kind of animal!  I've used lovely papers from My Minds Eye.

    Totally Ladybug Tuesday

    Hey everyone!

Its Tuesday which means its Totally Ladybug Tuesday and another LCI challenge.  This week the challenge is from Caz and its the colour wheel!  The challenge is to use the colour which is opposite your favourite on the colour wheel.  So for me, my favourite colour is purple, so I had to use yellow. Make sense?!  Go and take a look at the fabulous creations on the LCI challenge blog.  The DT are all so talented!

This is my last card as Guest DT at the Lovely Ladybugs and its been a blast ladies!! They are a great bunch of talented ladies (if not sometimes slightly mad!) I would therefore like to dedicate this "thank you" card to all of them. Thank you for having me ladies!!

    Here is my card.

I wasn't looking forward to using yellow, not a favourite colour of mine!  But I'm quite pleased with the way it has turned out!  I tried a new technique which I saw a little while ago on the Kaisercraft Blog and have been waiting to try it out.  Its false paper pleating.  I think it looks ok, don't you think?  Do they look like pleats?!

Bascially I cut the paper into strips.  I then cut this into bits and inked up the edges and distressed them.  Then I stuck the first layer down leaving a gap in between each and then stuck on the second layer filling the gaps of the first layer.  Then curled the ends up a bit.  I stuck a piece of cream paper across the middle to hide all the joins and popped on this fab ribbon.  (The inspiration for the ribbon came from Mary J who has been using some fabulous ribbons on her cards!)

I used the fabulous Flower for You Nikki which you can get here.  I glittered her up as usual.  I found some lovely paper from My Minds Eye Quite Contrary range and I combined that with some Bazzil Bling.

Its the last day today to get 15% off all stamps so once you've looked at all the DT cards go and get your stamps!!  If you do miss that Kerry has a special offer all through December where if you buy one stamp you get the second for half price.  What are you waiting for!!  I promise you won't be disappointed.

I am entering into the following challenges:

    Thats it from me today.
