Totally Ladybug Tuesday

Hey everyone!

Its Tuesday which means its Totally Ladybug Tuesday and another LCI challenge.  This week the challenge is from Caz and its the colour wheel!  The challenge is to use the colour which is opposite your favourite on the colour wheel.  So for me, my favourite colour is purple, so I had to use yellow. Make sense?!  Go and take a look at the fabulous creations on the LCI challenge blog.  The DT are all so talented!

This is my last card as Guest DT at the Lovely Ladybugs and its been a blast ladies!! They are a great bunch of talented ladies (if not sometimes slightly mad!) I would therefore like to dedicate this "thank you" card to all of them. Thank you for having me ladies!!

Here is my card.

I wasn't looking forward to using yellow, not a favourite colour of mine!  But I'm quite pleased with the way it has turned out!  I tried a new technique which I saw a little while ago on the Kaisercraft Blog and have been waiting to try it out.  Its false paper pleating.  I think it looks ok, don't you think?  Do they look like pleats?!

Bascially I cut the paper into strips.  I then cut this into bits and inked up the edges and distressed them.  Then I stuck the first layer down leaving a gap in between each and then stuck on the second layer filling the gaps of the first layer.  Then curled the ends up a bit.  I stuck a piece of cream paper across the middle to hide all the joins and popped on this fab ribbon.  (The inspiration for the ribbon came from Mary J who has been using some fabulous ribbons on her cards!)

I used the fabulous Flower for You Nikki which you can get here.  I glittered her up as usual.  I found some lovely paper from My Minds Eye Quite Contrary range and I combined that with some Bazzil Bling.

Its the last day today to get 15% off all stamps so once you've looked at all the DT cards go and get your stamps!!  If you do miss that Kerry has a special offer all through December where if you buy one stamp you get the second for half price.  What are you waiting for!!  I promise you won't be disappointed.

Photo Book and News!

Good evening all

Well, the snow hasn't arrived as yet.  Its cold though!!

I've got some exciting news.  I have been invited to join the Design Team over at Moving Along With The Times!!  This is my first DT position so am looking forward to it, even if slightly nervous about it!!  Thank you ladies for having me and I look forward to working with you!

I managed to get my DT cards done today but didn't have any inspiration to do my final Christmas cards, one of them is for my mum so I really must get it done!!  So instead of sitting there with no inspiration I decided to leave it today and see how I felt tomorrow.  So instead I am sharing with you a photo book I've done following my trip to Florence in September.  I've done three of these, one each for the girls who I went with.

I used Kaisercraft Beyond the Page, Large Open Album which I bought from Merly Impressions.  I painted each board with cream eco green paints and then layered each board with different papers, distressing the ends and inking all round, trying to keep the theme throughout.  I made various different types of flowers to decorate pages.  I made the the little journalling labels with one of my nesties, stamped each one with a Crafty Individuals stamp to give it some texture.  I had already printed the comments from my printer.

Thats it from me for now. Have a great Sunday.

Freezing!

Hi All

I'm so cold :-(  Am working at home and have got the radiator practically on top of my lap.  Coco is sleeping by the side of it.  It is nice and sunny though so its a lovely day.  No sign of snow thank goodness.

Well been a busy week, not been into blogland much unfortunately. Went to see the new Harry Potter film last night.  Was ok, bit slow but its setting the scene for the last one next year I guess.  Also had the car serviced and MOT'd yesterday, lets just say that I won't be able to buy much craft stash over the next few weeks!

Anyway enough of my rambling.  I have got a couple of Christmas plaques today. These were another one of the projects that we did at the craft retreat back in October.  I've made some for xmas gifts so I hope those people don't look here!

I've used the Kaisercraft Long French Plaque which you can get from Merly Impressions.  I've painted with Eco Green Crafts Paint.  Covered with Echo Park Everybody Loves Christmas paper and the element sheets which is where the santa and trees come from.  The letters are wood from Kars (which are so difficult to get in the UK!).  Then used glitter, fluffy stuff and glossy accents for various accents.

I hope you like them.  Am entering into the following challenges:
  • Fab 'n' Funky - anything goes
  • Lexi's Creations - Traditional Christmas Colours (not sure if you are meant to use a stamp with this challenge, I apologise if you do).
See you soon.

Baby Girl

Good afternoon everyone, hope you are having a great Sunday.

The weekend is flying by again as usual.  Did you all catch Strictly last night?  Matt was A.MAZ.ING!  I have a new crush, he was so yummy doing his samba!!  He was much better than Scott this week (although I was loving Scott's jive last week).  I taped it last night so watched Matt all over again this morning, sigh....!!

Anyway!  On to the card today. An old friend of mine had a baby girl last weekend and I hadn't got around to doing them a card.  So did one last night using Bathtime Ellie from the DigiStamp Boutique.  My photo looks rubbish today, sorry about that.

I used the sketch from Sketch Saturday which was great, I think I will be using that one again!  I had some very old paper in my stash which all worked together and I loved the colours.  Used my Martha Stewart punch and lots of glittler for the bubbles and the bathtub.  (The ink from the printer started to run into the glittle glue though which is a bit of a pain.)  Hope you like it.  It was actually great not to have to do a Christmas card!!

Its Friday!

Happy Friday everyone, although its nearly Saturday now!

Hope you have had a good week and looking forward to the weekend.

I am posting a couple of things which some of you may have seen already, I posted them briefly and have now put back on my blog. They were both made at a craft retreat I did in October, which was great fun and gave me the enthusiasm to try different things.  There are some more things to come in future posts.

The first is a box which you could use as a jewellry box if you wanted to. The box was painted with distress crackle paint and then lined with some beautiful paper.  The flower looks great don't you think, I think that is my favourite bit.

The second is a can which I am now storing fabric flowers in. It was decorated with ribbon and paper flowers which are stamped and glittered.

Hope you like them.  I don't know if there are any challenges around for these!

Take Care

Christmas gifts

Hi everyone

Just want to say first of all that I am sorry that I am not leaving many comments on your blogs at the moment.  I am trying to but its just a bit difficult at the moment as lots going on and before you know it the day has gone.

So excited today, am a winner over at the LCI Challenge Blog.  They have a great new challenge this week, go and check out the DT's fabulous cards.

Just a quick one from me today (again!)  I am continuing to make my gift boxes and I think I have finished those that I wanted to do now.  What do you think?  I'm loving all the painting and getting a bit messy!!

I'm using crackle paint, glittler, chalk ink pads to distress the edges.  So sorry but I can't remember the names of the papers.

I am going to enter into the following challenges:
  • Fab 'n' Funky Challenges - Going round in Circles (the flowers from box 2 are made from a circle punch and then rolled up);
  • A Spoon Full of Sugar - Distressing (I have inked and distressed all the edges of the papers on each box and used crackle paint on box 2);
  • Moving along with the Times - Nice and Bright (box 3, thanks Lisa!);
Bye for now

First Blog Award!

Good afternoon everyone

I'm very excited today! I have just received my very first blog award which has been sent to me by Eileen at My Artistic Designs.  How lovely is that, thank you so much Eileen.

Ok, I think this is what I need to do.  I need to tell you 3 things about myself, I need to pass the award onto 5 other people, I need to proudly display the badge in my side bar  and then I need to link this back to Digi's With Attitude Blog.  I think I then receive a $5.00 gift certificate from Digi's with Attitude. Phew!

So, three things about me:
  • Paul Young once bought me a drink in a bar (do you remember him!!?)
  • I bought a 6 pack of McCoys Steak flavoured crisps the other day, as a treat, meaning to eat them over the week, I ate them all in one day :-(
  • My favourite holiday destination is Mauritius (have been there twice).
I now need to pass this award on to five other people.  These are:
I want to put you all down!  I'm sorry that I can't!

Enjoy the rest of your day.

No Pink or Purple!

Good morning everyone, its the weekend!!

Well, I had a good rummage around my old junk looking for an old Chinese vase, unfortunately I couldnt find anything!!  What an amazing story, finding an old vase and suddenly £43 million richer! Imagine that... sigh!

Anyway, my card!  I've done another Christmas card, just a couple more to do and I think I should be done for this year.  I did this card for Kerry and the fabulous ladies over at the Ladybug Craft Challenge which this week is to use ribbon.  I hadn't used fireside Nikki yet so decided that would be nice to use.

I wanted to try something a little different so I dusted off my old eyelet setter and set eyelets down the side of the card to tie the ribbon through.  I scored down one side of the card and created a fold.  I set myself a second challenge which was to use NO PURPLE OR PINK!  and I managed it!  I actually used orange (gulp).  I also decorated the inside as well.

I'm not sure the flower works but i was fiddling around with it so much last night I decided to stop, and leave it!

I'm off now to paint boxes and photo books which I am doing as Christmas gifts, will post here for you to see when finished!

Bugaboo DT Call

Hello my blog friends

Well I am somewhat nervously going to put my name forward for a DT call over at Bugaboo Stamps.  I LOVE their digi stamps! They are just so cool, fab and funny (just like me... well maybe not!! :-))   I saw they were looking and thought well why not, they can only say no!!

My first card is a new post using one of their fab freebie's - DeDe Christmas Drink. I used her with some fab Echo Park papers.  I did a touch of distressing on the papers and edged them with Chestnut Roan chalk ink.  I did add some glitter and sparke embelishments (can you do glitter and distress on the same card!!?)

They woud also like to see two other projects and I have chosen the following two to put forward:

New York Style, because I just love the black and white with touch of red.  Its a great stylish image, and I really enjoyed making it.

Second, I will put forward the cupcake mini book, its a bit different to a card and looks great with some photos for the recipient.

I hope the gang over a Bugaboo like them!

I also entering the first card into the following challenges:
Take care everyone.

First Ladybug Challenge

Hi everyone.  I hope you have all been ok this week.

First of all I want to say a huge thank you for all of your wonderful comments and encouragement on my blog posts.  It means so much that you take the time to look at what I have created and are so positive about what I do.

I'm sorry I havent had a lot of time to look at all your blogs this week, its been a bit hectic.  I've only just had time to sit down today do a bit of crafting and hopefully get some of those Christmas cards done!

My card today is for the wonderful Ladybug Challenge.  This is their first challenge so its all very exciting and the DT's create some wonderful cards.  For my entry, I have used one of the Christmas Nikki's that I bought the other week after being featured on C&C.

I used some free papers from Quick Cards Made Easy which are lovely, they are pink again and I really want to try and get away from pink!!  The twist with the challenge was to decorate the inside.  EEK!  I gave it a go.  Hope its ok!!

I am also entering into the following challenges:
Have a fabulous Sunday evening.

Take care
